MAX-laboratory at Lund University MAX-laboratory at Lund University
ordered 500kV Modulator The MAX-laboratory at Lund University, Sweden is building a new preinjector for the 3 GHz linear accelerator. This will replace the existing thermal cathode RF gun which suffers from too large emittance and energy spread. The new electron source will consist of a 400kV DC electron gun. The gun beam is chopped, bunched and matched before entering the MAX-injector linac. The injected pulse length will be freely adjustable. The space were the electron gun modulator should be installed is limited and it should be possible to adjust the length of the modulator output pulse between 2 and 4 microseconds. “We choose the E1-2 solid state E-gun modulator system from ScandiNova because of its compact size and variable pulse length capability.” Says Lars Malmgren PhD EE Research engineer Lund University MAX-lab “We are please to have been selected by MAX-lab as supplier to a well known research centre . With this order we have strengthen our position in the upper high voltage (500kV) class as supplier of true State-of-the-art Solid State Technology to the pulsed power society. We deliver a high performance and a cost effective system in initial investment as well as operational cost.” For further information about Max-lab www.maxlab.lu.se
